The St. Petersburg State University and rolling nearly 32,000 students is the largest of the public higher education institutions in the area. St. Petersburg is also home to St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, Herzen University, St. Petersburg State University of Economics and Finance, and St. Petersburg Military Engineering Technical University.
