Located in Pinellas County Florida along the beautiful Gulf Coast just west of Largo and St. Petersburg nestled between the ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway is the stunning community of Indian Rocks Beach. This small coastal village stretches from 28th Ave. N. bordering Sand Key and Belleair Shore south to Coquina Cove and is home to roughly 4500 residents. Although small, it's still part of the Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Clearwater Metro area. It features over 2 miles of beach along the Gulf of Mexico with 27 beach access points.
This primarily tourist destination offers some of the area's finest beaches on the beautiful sunsets, multiple retail shops, restaurants, and a few markets. Although it is primarily a tourist destination, a lot of folks call Indian Rocks Beach home either year-round or seasonally. Many people call this a "throwback to old Florida" as it offers beautiful dune-lined beaches, boardwalks, and some of the best restaurants in the area.
Indian Rocks Beach got its name when a native medicine man brought his sick chief to bathe and drink the water from a local sulfur spring. In the earliest 20th century all the roads on the beaches were composed of shells and sand, some of which still exist today giving its name Indian Rocks Beach.
Things to do in Indian Rocks Beach
Because this is primarily a tourist destination, residents have access to all the local shops and restaurants along the waterfront. There are nearly 30 restaurants in Indian Rocks Beach alone offering everything from local seafood to great microbrews, pizza and pasta, tropical oyster bars, ice cream parlors, coffee shops, candy kitchens, and premier fine dining restaurants.
Indian Rocks Beach also has multiple attractions and parks such as Brown Park on the north end of the beach with playgrounds and tennis courts, the nature preserve featuring multiple boardwalk trails, waterfront trails, dog park, and community garden. Boat rentals and surf shops are also popular in Indian Rocks Beach as is the Historical Museum located on 4th Avenue. This museum covers local history operated by the Indian Rocks Historical Society.
Located also on 4th Avenue is Splash Harbour Water Park, this Florida and Key West-themed water amusement park for folks of all ages. It's a great place for parties, vacation packages, or just enjoying the sunshine on a hot afternoon.

The town covers less than one square mile and with a population of under 5000 people, chances are you'll meet your neighbors sooner rather than later.
If you love boating, Indian Rocks Beach is ideal. Choosing a home on the waterway side of the beach is ideal for having a boat dock, and heading out to the open water. From festivals and touristy events and activities to fantastic local restaurants, you don't have to go far to find true Florida charm in Indian Rocks Beach.

For those looking for low maintenance lifestyle, a one or two-story condominium or townhouse might be ideal. Condominiums start less than $300,000. You'll find ranch-style or single-story homes around $400,000 as well as beautiful waterfront estates with beach access for around $1.5 million on up. Many of the homes were built in the 1950s and 1960s yet you'll still find a good collection of modern contemporary design, newer homes, and beachfront estates.
