More on Indian Rocks Beach Homes

Indian Rocks Beach HomesLocated in Pinellas County Florida along the beautiful Gulf Coast just west of Largo and St. Petersburg nestled between the ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway is the stunning community of Indian Rocks Beach. This small coastal village stretches from 28th Ave. N. bordering Sand Key and Belleair Shore south to Coquina Cove and is home to roughly 4500 residents. Although small, it's still part of the Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Clearwater Metro area. It features over 2 miles of beach along the Gulf of Mexico with 27 beach access points.

This primarily tourist destination offers some of the area's finest beaches on the beautiful sunsets, multiple retail shops, restaurants, and a few markets. Although it is primarily a tourist destination, a lot of folks call Indian Rocks Beach home either year-round or seasonally. Many people call this a "throwback to old Florida" as it offers beautiful dune-lined beaches, boardwalks, and some of the best restaurants in the area.

Indian Rocks Beach got its name when a native medicine man brought his sick chief to bathe and drink the water from a local sulfur spring. In the earliest 20th century all the roads on the beaches were composed of shells and sand, some of which still exist today giving its name Indian Rocks Beach.
