About Anna Maria Island Condominiums
Anna Maria Island is a small barrier island in Manatee County south of St. Petersburg and Tampa by about 45 minutes to an hour. This is a quieter, old-world Florida Beach town, with several restaurants, a few amenities, and a strict building code that keeps high-rise condominiums and larger resorts off the beach. You won't find major condominium or apartment buildings, grand hotels, or lavish resorts here, but a quieter, slower pace of life with smaller complexes, just a few hotels, waterfront, and oceanfront homes, and just two or three-story beachfront condominiums.
There are several resorts, hotels, and inns on Anna Maria Island and many visitors use vacation rentals from VRBO and Airbnb. Very few buildings are taller than about three stories. Many folks choose and Anna Maria Island condominium as a second home or beachfront vacation property, ideal for vacationing when the homeowner wants to, and renting out the property in the off-season. While there are less than 10,000 residents on Anna Maria Island year-round, there are many more vacationers on an annual basis.
When it comes to condominiums, you'll find approximately 50 properties for sale at any given time with an average home price of about $520,000. From luxury condominiums and gorgeous view condos of over $2 million to perfect vacation rental properties under $500,000, there is a home and property for just about every budget.
Beachfront condominiums tend to run higher than waterway condos. You'll find about a couple of dozen properties with an average price of $600,000 right on the beach. Each of these condominiums will have its own homeowner association or condo association fees, which can range from about $100 to over $800 per month. While you will not find large resorts with multiple amenities, some condo buildings do offer a few on-site amenities such as garage parking, swimming pools, tennis courts, and larger lobbies or even meeting rooms.
Beachfront condominiums include Carissa Villas, Island Paradise, Mainsail Beach Inn, Lplague, La Casa Costiera, Vista Grande, Palm Gables and La Marais. Again, none of these are more than about two or three stories, and most are right on the beach.
Other waterfront condominiums include Old Bridge Village, Seaside Gardens, Sunbow Bay, Tradewinds, and Tortuga. These condominiums tend to run a little less expensive, typically between $230,000 and $750,000. There are fewer homes on the waterway side than on the beachfront as that's usually why most people choose a condominium on Anna Maria Island.
Things to Do
There are plenty of things to do right on the island and since the community is split up into three sections including Anna Maria, Holmes Beach, and Bradenton Beach, there are different activities and things to do in each. At the south end of the island on Coquina Beach, you'll find parks, a beach market, a boat ramp, and Longboat pass, a causeway off of the islands. A little farther up his Cortez beach that offers a small parking lot and beach access, and from there, you'll find restaurants and activities to the tip of the north end of the island.
Restaurants such as Sharkey's Seagrill, The Island Spice, Peaches Restaurant, Skinny's Place Inc. and the Feast Restaurant as well as about a dozen more are scattered throughout the island all the way north to Be in Point Beach at the northern tip. The access ways are across Highway 64 or Highway 684, the Cortez Bridge. Many homes and businesses have beautiful views of Anna Maria Sound or the Gulf of Mexico.
If you're looking for a low maintenance home, consider a condo on Anna Maria Island. It offers the old world Florida style, low rise ambiance it's not as commercial as some of the other beaches in the area, and more affordable homes. For a laid-back lifestyle, beautiful landscape, and a great little city with all the amenities of a larger one, why not choose a condo on Anna Maria Island.
